Winter Scrip Orders
SCRIP Orders will resume on Wednesdays.She will be at Booster Meetings, so check the schedule, but only for the first half hour. Lynne will be at the Wednesday afternoon rehearsals from 4pm until they are done, outside the band room. She will plan on continuing with a once a week order, as orders permit. Anyone who cannot meet her on Wednesdays at the school are asked to bring the order to her house by Thursday evening.
Scrip - What is Scrip?
Scrip is simply a word that means “Substitute money” - in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Vons, JC Penney, ARCO, Starbucks Olive Garden, The Gap, Amazon.com, Wal-Mart and many, many others.
You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help you raise money. It’s simple - scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value and redeem them for full face value. The difference, between 1.5% to12%, is deposited into your child’s band account.
And scrip is exciting, because everyone wins:
- The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business...
- You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling...
- Our organization gets a regular source of revenue.
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and dining out.
Our scrip vendor is Great Lakes Scrip Company. You can check out its website at www.glscrip.com to see the many retailers that participate in the program.
How does it work?
During the fall. You will be able to drop off your Scrip Order Form, accompanied by your up-front payment, at weekly Wednesday night band practices during the marching season. We will then order the scrip from our vendor. When the scrip arrives, we will package your order and it will be available for pick-up at the next Wednesday night band practice.
At the end of marching season, all order drop offs and scrip pick ups will occur on Wednesday nights at the home of Lynne Stewart. Orders will also be collected at monthly Booster meetings.
Scrip orders will be taken during the summer by arrangement. We anticipate putting in a scrip order at least once a month (more if the demand is there). Please email Lynne Stewart at scrip@vistaband.org with your request and she’ll let you know when the next order date will be, and how payment can be made.
